I have an obsession with the opening theme song to the Sunday Night Sports Wrap on KTVU in San Francisco. The theme is from a bygone era of 80’s guitar riffs. The actual sports news that follows it never seems to be as exciting as the music insinuates. I can’t find a clip of it on YouTube – so if you’re not in the Bay Area you’ll just have to take my word for it. I’m sure your town or city has its’ own version.
As I was reading Digg today I came across this gem from CBS Sports:
Someone has taken the time to compile their opening themes & there are some real standout examples of 80’s music mixed with FACE MELTING guitar solos. It seems that a guitar solo is the only way to musically express the awesomene athletic prowess that is about to be reported on.
I love this game. It’s wacky in ways the US games can never – ever – hope to achieve. This game has actually been made before – for the PC Engine. And it appears to have found a new life on PSP… What I wouldn’t give for a Cho Aniki T-shirt. I tried to find them once – no luck. This makes me want to try again.
So – I was reading Vice Magazine today – which by the way has gone downhill ever since Gavin McInnes left. Yet I digress…
Vice has this article about something called “Donk Music” – apparently it’s all the rage in the UK. I still don’t completely understand what it is – but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it & I’m pretty sure it’s nothing more than a passing fad. Anyhoo – I did want to see what this bad enough that I did a quick search on YouTube. I got distracted by something with “Donk” in the title but that what I assume Vice was talking about. The musical genius that distracted me goes by the what I assume is a moniker – Skriptcha. I’m going out on a limb and guessing that he & or his boys came up with this nickname because he tells it like it is – the gospel truth. It’s so real it might as well be scripture. Again with the digressions…
The video & rap a best get a grade of “A” for effort – but one line he drops in it got me wondering… Is Rosé the drink of choice when one is keeping it real? According to this cat it is – starts at 20 seconds:
All sorts of awesome.
I’m giving up my search for the real “Donk” music.
