‘noob’ in the running for 1,000,000th English word.
Good news fellow nerds…
Noob could be the millionth English word.
Unfortunately it will be entered with a rather obvious spelling error.
Usually the ‘oo’ in n00b are spelled with ‘00′ (zeros) no (o’s). My proof? Again – Wikipedia. If you click that link to look it up – maybe you are the n00b since you didn’t know what it meant. See how I worked it into a sentence? And I also gave you an example of how it would be used… Should you be a n00b & not know in what context to use ‘n00b’! Damn – there I did it again. I am awesome & obviously am not a n00b myself.
The Telegraph’s article has a great definition of ‘noob’:
Another internet word “noob” – a derogatory name for someone new to a particular task or community – is also in the running, along with “greenwashing” (what companies do to appear environmentally friendly) and “chiconomics” (recession fashion).
I don’t think ‘n00b’ will be the millionth word. My money is on greenwashing.
